Best Method of Revision?

1. Specification, Exercise Books, Revision Guides: Use the above resources to make revision notes, mind maps or flashcards. This should take up no more than 15-20 minutes of each session.

2. Past paper questions: Complete lots of past paper questions. Then mark them using the mark scheme. You will learn subject knowledge as well as how the examiners want you to respond.

3. Vocabulary retrieval quizzing:mWith the help of someone at home have regular vocabulary tests on all topics covered since the start of Year 10.

Online Learning – use Seneca and/or memorise to complete recall questions on the topics in the exams.

+ Option Two

Revision guides/workbooks. Use the revision guides and workbooks to help fill gaps in your knowledge you identify.

How Can Parents Help?

• Encourage your child to revise regularly, as this will have more impact than ‘cramming’ before the exam.

• Encourage your child to access the revision resources provided to them by their class teacher.

• Encourage your child to teach you vocabulary as this will help them develop their vocabulary.

• Test your child regularly on the vocabulary that they have been learning. Encourage them to use ‘Quizlet’, ‘Memrise’ and other resources.

• Encourage your child to access any authentic language resource (online news, films, radio).

If you are still struggling, then you must come and get additional help from your teacher, including attending lesson 6.
