Best Method of Revision?
Specification, Knowledge organisers, Revision Guides: Use the below resources to make revision notes, mind maps or flashcards. This should take up no more than 15-20 minutes of each session.
Revision mats: Use the bank revision mats to go over any topics and write down what you know, you can maybe use a bit of colour.
Past paper questions: Complete lots of past paper questions. Then mark them using the mark scheme. You will learn subject knowledge as well as how the examiners want you to respond.
RAG: After every topic, rate it either Red, amber or green based on your classwork, PINS and Seneca homework. The topics that are red and amber are the ones you need to go over first.
Use of Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Religious Studies: Beliefs in action Specification B revision guide.
How Can Parents Help?
Ask your child for keywords, especially the terminology we use for the Islam unit of work, test students every so often.
Each week check your child is completing their Seneca homework or exam questions.
Look through revision guides and test students on prior knowledge, so things they may have studied last year to refresh their memories.
Test students on sources of authority, if they can remember quotes and get students to explain when they could use it.
Additional support is available from your class teacher. This includes attending lesson 6 revision sessions led by the Head of Department or 1:1 support if required.
