How Will I Know the Specific Areas I Need to Work On? How Do I Ensure I Am Not Revising What I Know Already?

Use the assessment you complete after each unit and specific feedback you have received from your teacher to identify the areas that you need to improve. Ask your teacher for feedback from your end of unit test scores.

If you are still struggling, then you must come and get additional help from your teacher, including attending lesson 6.

Best Method of Revision?

  • Specification, Knowledge organisers, CSNewbs, Smart Revise: Use the below resources to make revision notes, mind maps or flashcards. This should take up no more than 15-20 minutes of each session.

  • Flash Cards: Use the bank of retrieval questions for each topic to test yourself and your friends. Make quizzes based on the questions and look at the answers.

  • Past paper questions: Complete lots of past paper questions. Then mark them using the mark scheme. You will learn subject knowledge as well as how the examiners want you to respond.

  • Coding Practice: Learn Python for paper 2. Ask your teacher for a practice paper.

+ Option One

Textbooks - These contain a lot of information and questions for you to revise from.

+ Option Two

Smart Revise – Complete the activities on Smart Revise to revise each topic.

How Can Parents Help?

  • Ask your child for a copy of their flashcard questions. Test them on recall of the questions and keep a score.

  • Each week, ask your child to show you the Smart Revise tasks they’ve completed.

  • Ask your child to show you their workbook and then test them on the content. For example, ask them to verbally describe what an algorithm is.
